Sens. Perdue and Isakson Pushed Unpopular Plans Despite Devastating Consequences for Georgia Families
Today, the GOP’s latest effort to take away healthcare from millions of Americans failed to gather enough support to move forward in the U.S. Senate. In response to the failure of the Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson bill, Laura Simmons, NARAL Georgia State Director, released the following statement:
“The latest GOP attempt to take away healthcare from families across Georgia has failed, no thanks to Senators Purdue and Isakson. Senators Purdue and Isakson have made it clear that their top priority is to take away our healthcare for their own political gain, no matter the devastating cost to Georgia’s women and families. Today we celebrate the fact that Purdue, Isakson, and the Republican Party have failed in the most recent scheme to take away our healthcare. NARAL members across Georgia have made their voices heard to defeat this unpopular bill, and will continue to hold these out-of-touch politicians accountable for their fringe agenda.”
NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all Americans. NARAL works to guarantee that every woman has the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. In recognition of its work defending our constitutional right to choose, Fortune Magazine described NARAL as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.”
