Rep. Handel and other GOP Leaders Push Abortion Ban Despite Devastating Consequences for Georgia Families
“Of all the things Republican leaders should be focusing on, including tragedies in Las Vegas and Puerto Rico, they have instead decided to make attacking women’s rights their top priority. Rep. Handel and the out-of-touch GOP sold out Georgia women and voted to take away our rights. Rep. Handel has no business deciding if, when, and how Georgia women should start and grow their family. Abortions after twenty weeks of pregnancy are incredibly rare and often medically complex, and prohibiting Georgia women from accessing this essential care disproportionately hurts our most vulnerable families. Women and families in these difficult situations deserve safe and comprehensive care, not one-size-fits-all judgements from anti-choice politicians. NARAL Georgia will continue working to advance the reproductive freedom of women all across our state, and will hold accountable politicians like Rep. Handel who undermine our constitutionally protected right to access basic reproductive healthcare.”
Here are all the anti-choice politicians from Georgia who voted to restrict reproductive freedom today:
Rep. Buddy Carter
Rep. Drew A. Ferguson
Rep. Karen C. Handel
Rep. Robert Woodall
Rep. Austin Scott
Rep. Doug Collins
Rep. Jody Hice
Rep. Rick Allen
Rep. Tom Graves
NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all Americans. NARAL works to guarantee that every woman has the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. In recognition of its work defending our constitutional right to choose, Fortune Magazine described NARAL as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.”
