In the final hours before Georgia voters head to the polls on Tuesday, NARAL Pro-Choice Georgia is doubling down on their efforts to get out the vote for two pro-choice champions in the state senate elections. NARAL was proud to endorse Jen Jordan (SD-6) and Nikema Williams (SD-39) and has been knocking doors, making phone calls, and speaking with voters on the importance of electing pro-choice champions to the state legislature. A win in these districts would also deny the GOP their supermajority in the state senate, which they have used to push anti-choice laws that chip away at Georgians’ reproductive freedom.

“On Tuesday, Georgia families have the chance to fight back against the right-wing politics that have controlled our state capitol for years. That’s why NARAL members and pro-choice voters across the state are excited to support two pro-choice champions in this Tuesday’s election for the state senate, Jen Jordan and Nikema Williams,” said Laura Simmons, State Director for NARAL Pro-Choice Georgia. “Georgia’s women and families deserve leaders who understand the importance of standing up against the extreme ideologies of the GOP. This includes not just defending, but expanding access to basic reproductive healthcare, including affordable birth control and accessible abortion. In the final hours of this campaign, NARAL members are working non-stop to elect Jen Jordan and Nikema Williams and ensure that women and families have leaders we can count on to defend our most basic rights.”

NARAL Georgia State Director Laura Simmons recently laid out the case for why Georgia families deserve progressive, pro-choice leaders like Jordan and Williams. Last month, it was revealed that Jordan’s opponent, Jaha Howard had posted several disturbing anti-LGBT and anti-woman social media posts. NARAL called Howard out for his hateful rhetoric and launched a petition calling on Howard to drop out of the race.

In addition to knocking doors and making phone calls into both state senate districts, NARAL Georgia has hosted volunteer events to talk with voters about the importance of electing pro-choice leaders who will defend the reproductive freedom of all Georgians.
